Annie McConville was born on 2nd October 1897. From childhood she suffered from a deformed and crippled left leg (probably the result of poliomyelitis) and walked with the aid of a crutch throughout her life. She never married and was never in employment, spending her life looking after her brothers and sisters when she was young, and acting as companion and carer for her mother and stepfather, Frank Ardern, when she was older. After the deaths of her mother and Frank, she lived in sheltered accommodation in Timperley until her death on 7th May 1983.
